Wildlife and fun photographs from Daniels Lake
Moose, loons, eagles, beavers and different kinds of wild ducks are right here at our house. In the winter, the moose and eagles stay here. In August, the salmon will be in the lake spawning along the shoreline in front of our place. You can use a canoe, rowboat, walk or drive to the mouth of the creek that is fed by this lake and watch salmon coming into the lake. At the peak, there are hundreds of fish swimming around you. It's pretty exciting to watch. We also have pet ducks who beg for food.
Moose swim, too.
Common loons often come right up to the dock but to see them on the beach is a special treat.
They look so graceful in the water.
Their legs are so far back on their bodies that they can't walk so they scoot themselves back to water.
Eagle eating his salmon on our dock.
This is one of those
pictures that is almost of what I was trying to catch.
The
young eagle is dodging a sparrow who was diving at it.
Wild Merganser pair on our dock (male is black & white)
Beavers can be playful!
Oh what a peaceful day this was.
The following pictures capture one of my favorite Fall days when Trumpeter swans stopped by as they migrated.
